The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttarakhand Police has arrested an interstate drug smuggler with a huge amount of ganja in a major action against drugs under the Drugs-Free Devbhoomi campaign.
The accused had come from Jharkhand to supply 4 quintals 34 kg of ganja to Uttarakhand, which is considered to be the biggest recovery so far.
STF Senior Superintendent of Police Navneet Singh Bhullar said, under the vision of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of a drug-free Uttarakhand, the STF nabbed accused Raju Ali (resident: Lakhimpur Kheri, UP) from Police Station Pulbhatta, District Udham Singh Nagar area. The accused was bringing ganja through an Eicher Canter (UK06CB 4534).

Interrogation revealed that the accused works as a driver and had brought ganja on the instructions of a person named Suresh Gupta of Jharkhand, which was to be sold at a huge profit in Rudrapur, Gadarpur and Bajpur areas. STF has also got the names of other drug peddlers during interrogation, against whom action is being taken.
Not only against drugs, Uttarakhand STF has also opened a wide front against cyber criminals. Under “Operation Prahar”, 337 cyber criminals hiding across the country have been identified. In the first phase, action is being taken against 272 criminals from 17 states and in the second phase, action is being taken against 65 criminals from 12 states.
The campaign is being led by Additional Director General of Police V. Murugesan and Inspector General of Police Nilesh Anand Bharane, while the strategy is being conducted by DSP Ankush Mishra.
