REVOLUTIONARY POET ALLAMA IQBAL REMEMBERED ON 87TH DEATH ANNIVERSARY

Shaheed Bhagat Singh Foundation Pakistan on Wedmesdau observed 87th death anniversary of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal at a programme in Lahore.

Foundation chairman Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, having family roots at Abohar, informed that Dr Shahid Naseer, Shahbaz Rasheed Qureshi, Ishtiaq Gohar, Owais Ahmed Noor, Haseeb Malik and others prayed for his eternal peace.

Qureshi said that born on November 9, 1877 in Sialkot, Dr Muhammad Iqbal was a great Sufi poet of the modern age. He was a man of great ideas – dynamic, romantic, provocative and profound. Dr Iqbal was both great poet, serious thinker and philosopher, who infused a revolutionary spirit in the youth at the time through his poetry. His poetry has been translated into Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, English including several other languages. The poet-philosopher died in April 1938.

Shahbaz Qureshi said that Allama Iqbal was exposed to a liberal education that defined the contours of his thought and his poetry during the entire period of his life. His poetry emerged as a remarkable site where message and art coalesced, as he re-configured major poetic devices
