PUNJAB CM VISITS LUDHIANA FACTORY COLLAPSE SITE, ANNOUNCES EX-GRATIA FOR THOSE KILLED

Expressing grief and shock at the tragic incident, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday ordered a detailed inquiry by the Patiala Divisional Commissioner into the Ludhiana factory collapse and announced compensation for those killed in the mishap.The inquiry will encompass all aspects of the incident and would ascertain violations by the owner of the factory in storing chemicals and going against the law. Any violation of the construction laws would also be identified, said the Chief Minister, during a visit to the site of the tragedy to assess the relief and rescue operations.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today reviewed the arrangements for the 2nd One Day International (ODI) cricket match to be played between India and Sri Lanka at I. S. Bindra Stadium, PCA Mohali, on December 13.Chairing a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister directed DGP Suresh Arora to ensure foolproof security arrangements for players and the spectators. He also asked the DGP to direct the traffic authorities to make proper arrangements for the smooth movement of vehicular traffic on the match day and to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the local commuters.
