22-YEAR-OLD GIRL “DRAGGED AND ASSAULTED” IN ABOHAR

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

In Abohar’s Seed Farm area, neighbours allegedly dragged a 22-year-old girl into the street and assaulted her following a minor dispute over a drainage channel. The injured girl has been admitted to the government hospital for treatment.

Priyanka, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital, stated that a drain runs past the front of her house. Neighbours frequently block the drain, causing wastewater to accumulate and creating difficulties for her family; they had previously asked the neighbours not to block it.

She said that a dispute arose with the neighbours on Wednesday when she objected to the drain being blocked. It is alleged that some individuals grabbed her, dragged into the street, and began assaulting her. She was also allegedly thrown onto the road during the assault.

The victim said that family members arrived at the scene and rescued her from the assailants. Locals also viewed CCTV footage showing some youths allegedly assaulting the victim. Her family has demanded strong action against the accused. An investigation is underway based on the complaint filed with the police; action is expected against the accused in accordance with the law following an examination of the CCTV footage and other facts.
