Alleged rape of a 6-year-old girl by an unidentified person has come to light in Sriganganagar. A large number of people gathered at the police station today to express their outrage before DSP (Crimes Against Women and Investigation) Rajinder Kumar.
DSP Rajinder Kumar said that the victim has undergone a medical examination, though the report has not yet been received. The incident reportedly occurred on August 19. As approximately 15 days have passed, gathering sufficient evidence regarding the incident is proving difficult. Efforts are also being made to obtain CCTV footage.
According to the police, a case regarding the said incident was registered on August 27, based on a report filed by her 25-year-old mother. The 6-year-old girl studies in a private school.
It is said that the woman had gone to her maternal home in Bathinda. On August 19, her husband dropped their daughter off at school as usual and brought her back home at 12:30 PM. Upon returning home, the daughter went to the bathroom to bathe on her own. Afterward, she began vomiting and appeared withdrawn. The next day, the father informed her mother that the girl had a fever. The woman asked her husband to bring the daughter to Bathinda. He brought the girl to Bathinda on August 24.
They took her to a doctor at the government hospital in Bathinda. When mother examined her closely, she suspected that she had been subjected to sexual assault. The family immediately consulted a female doctor that same day, who confirmed that she had been raped. Subsequently, they brought their daughter to Sriganganagar and admitted her to a hospital here.
Police said that CCTV cameras were being examined, there is no male staff in the school.
