EXCISE DEPTT. HELD CONSULTATION WITH RETAILERS, BONDED WAREHOUSE LICENSEES, OWNERS OF HOTELS

After inviting written suggestions from all the stakeholders, Excise & Taxation Department, U.T., Chandigarh held consultation with Retailers, Bonded Warehouse Licensees, Owners of Hotels/Bars and their Associations to gather valuable suggestions for the upcoming Excise Policy 2024-25.

The healthy discussions also included the representatives of Ab InBev, International Spirits and Wine Association of India and Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Confederation. These collaborative efforts aimed at framing a policy after getting feedback from multiple stakeholders and analyse the diverse issues.

During the interaction, main suggestions included increase in EDP (Ex Distillery Price), timely Label approvals, increasing timings for functioning of warehouses, reducing tax on Beer and giving label approvals for longer time period. The representatives of Hotel/Bar Industry and other related associations applauded the current Excise Policy. The discussion also included the best practises across different states in India.(SUBHEAD)

The Excise & Taxation Commissioner, Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh appreciated the feedbacks from these stakeholders and acknowledged the importance of feedback based policy making. He emphasized the spirit of inclusivity by involving every stakeholder in process of Policy making. The Excise Department requested the stakeholders to submit their suggestions via email epolicychd2024.25@gmail.com or submit hard copy personally during another such consultative meeting scheduled at 12:00 Noon on 05.12.2023 at D.C., Office, U.T., Chandigarh.
