The renowned Sector 22D ‘Shopping Fest’, an iconic festival held every year to mark the start of the long festive season, is all set to begin on September 17. The festival is being supported by the Chandigarh Administration. The inauguration of the shopping carnival will be held on the 73rd birthday celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a tribute to him. The festival will conclude on January 1, 2024.

Sharing details with media persons at a press conference here, Sector 22D Market Welfare Association (MWA-Sec 22D) President Arvind Jain said that the festival will be inaugurated by Chief Guest Dharampal, IAS, Advisor to the UT Administration.

Jain said that Chandigarh Mayor Anup Gupta would also grace the occasion and there will be a live performance by Kanhaiya Mittal. The cake cutting ceremony would take place at 11.30 am, marking the grand opening of India’s biggest shopping festival at Chandigarh’s heritage market – Sector 22D.

(MOREPIC1)(SUBHEAD)The MWA-Sec 22D president said that there would be 31 prizes for the shoppers including seven cars – 4 Hyundai Exters and 3 KIA Sonets, 8 Mi TVs, 8 LG ACs and 8 LG refrigerators for the coupon holders, which shoppers will get on purchase of Rs. 2000 or above. The shopping volume to become eligible for a coupon needs to be Rs. 10000 at any jewellery shop.

“There will be a vibrant and festive atmosphere, featuring entertainment, cultural events, and interactive experiences, making the fiesta not only a shopper's paradise but also a social and cultural phenomenon that fosters a sense of community and excitement among participants,” said Jain while responding to a media query.

Jain said that they are expecting a very good response to the shopping carnival, taking place in view of the upcoming festivals of Durga Puja and Diwali, and the fact that things are now completely back on the track which had been derailed due to recurrent Covid-19 waves.

He said that Shopping Fest-2023 at Sector 22D will offer a myriad of enticing offers which are sure to lure shoppers into a retail frenzy. A fool proof security arrangement is being put in place to ensure that no untoward incidents take place, he added.

The shopping extravaganza will showcase a bouquet of options to pick from like gold and diamond jewellery, clothes, luggage, watches, crockery, suiting and shirting, and other general items at the most affordable prices. The variety and range of products are so extensive that shoppers will be spoilt for choice. Don’t forget to be a part of this shopping extravaganza!
