In a major breakthrough, Crime Branch, Chandigarh Police got a major success by arresting/ apprehendingtwo persons involved in burglary. As per direction of Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP/Crime& HQ, under supervision of DSP Crime Sh. Udaypal Singh, a team of Crime Branch lead by Inspector Satvinder Singh arrestedtwonotorious thieves Ranjit Singh and Darshanand solved the case.
Police spokesman said, in the midnight, thieves broke into plot No. 350, Ind. Area, Ph.2, Chandigarh and stole away the scrap material of copper, brass alongwith cash, they also took away the DVR installed in the plot. In this regards case FIR No. 144 dated 10.9.2023 u/s 380,457 IPC PS-31, Chandigarh was registered on the complaint of Sh. Maman Chand S/o Sh. Om Parkash Gupta R/o # 596, Sector-7, Panchkula, Sector-5, Haryana.
The team of Crime Branch immediately came into swing and collected the human intelligency and technical assistance from the area. On the basis of human intelligency and technical assistance accused Ranjit Singh and Darshanwere arrested in this case on 12.09.2023 from near shiv Mandir park MauliJagran to Railway road, Chandigarh.
KNOW THE ACCUSED: .Ranjit Singh S/o Lakhmi Chand R/o # 2485, MauliJagran, Chandigarh. Aged 32 years. Ranjit had previously been arrested in 13 cases (2 of PS-17, 2 of PS-31, 2 of PS-Mauli Jagran and 7 of PS-Manimajra) i.e. attempt to murder, burglary, vehicle theft. Etc.
The accused Darshan S/o Raju R/o # 2714, MauliJagran, UT, Chandigarh age-28 years, also had tainted past and had previously been arrested in 3 cases (1 of PS-MJ and 2 of PS-Manimajra) i.e. Arms Act, Vehicle theft etc.
MODUS OPERANDI:- From the preliminary interrogation of the accused it comes on light that both accused are habitual criminals. Ranjit Singh recently came out from the jail and have no work. He used to be a driver on Mahindra Pickup before and during this job he identified the victim’s plot and planned theft with his co-accused friend Darshan.
(SUBHEAD)On the intervening night of 9/10.9.2023, they stole a pickup Mahindra and entered the plot No. 350, Ind. Area, Ph.2, Chandigarh premises after breaking the shutter. They collected the copper & brass bags from the plot and also took away cash, loaded it in the stolen Mahindra Pickup and drove away. They divided the goods and cash between themself andabandoned the stolen Mahindra Pickup.
RECOVERY: Copper 109.500 kg in 4 bags., Brass53.100 kg in 2 bags, Cash 1,60,000/- (Rs. 81300/- from Ranjit and Rs. 80000/- from Darshan.
On Wednesday both the accused were produced in the hon’ble court and their police remand was obtained. Investigation of the case is going on. Issued by
