With water level receding in border villages, the district administration is working on a mission mode to ensure full restoration of link roads and highways at the earliest for convenience of the general public. A 30-feet road leading to Bhaini Ram Singh village from Mahatam Nagar Kawanwali road has been restored while work on repair of another adjoining stretch of 150 meter is under progress, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal said.

(SUBHEAD)The DC said that with assistance from Punjab Mandi Board – which is the nodal department for carrying out repair works of rural roads – the Administration’s urgent endeavour is also to mitigate the damage done to roads by flood fury.

“I also take the opportunity to appeal to all citizens to adhere to administration's announcements and only use a road once it is cleared by the officials”, Dr. Duggal said while directing officers and officials to continuously inspect and assess ongoing works to ensure timely completion.

She said that link roads are the lifeblood of rural areas, which commuters use for their travel every day to fulfil basic needs. Immediate repair of these roads is the Administration’s priority. Moreover, the full thrust is on to repair and restore all damaged roads.
