Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday said that the situation of floods in the state was fully in control and the state government was keeping a strict eye over the entire situation. 

In a statement issued here today, the Chief Minister said that there is no need to panic as the state government is in constant touch with the Himachal government and the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) due to release of excess water from hilly areas. He said that the situation at Pong Dam and Ranjit Sagar Dam was also fully under control. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that safety of life and property of the people was the bounden duty of the state government.

(SUBHEAD)The Chief Minister said that the state government is duty bound to help the people in this hour of grave crisis and no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause. He said that succor is being provided even to the last person at the far flung areas of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that special thrust is being laid to ensure relief in the worst affected areas of the state so that people do not face any sort of problem.

The Chief Minister said that though the situation is under control, priority is still being given to carry out rescue and relief work in the badly affected areas of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that he is personally monitoring the situation and every effort will be made to ensure that the loss of people is minimized. He said that the state is known for excelling in hostile situations and we will overcome this challenge caused due to nature’s fury too.
