MERI MAATI MERA DESH: FORESTS DEPTT. ORGANIZED A TREE PLANTING PROGRAMME AND CREATED ‘VASUDHA VANDAN’

The Government of India, this year in August, will pay homage to the mother land through events and programmes dedicated to “Maati of the Mother Land” under the programme called “Meri Maati Mera Desh”.

In this series, the Department of Forests & Wildlife, UT Chandigarh organized a tree planting programme and created ‘Vasudha Vandan’ at Forest Area, Opposite Police Lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh which was inaugurated by Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & the Administrator, UT Chandigarh in the presence of Sh.Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh on 11th August, 2023.

(SUBHEAD)On this occasion, the Chief Guest inaugurated ‘Vasudha Vandan’ and planted ‘Kadam’ sapling and he visited the area and appreciated the efforts made by Forest Department Chandigarh. Hon’ble Governor stressed on the importance of oath administered the Panch Pran. He further administered the Panch Pran Pledge on “Meri Maati Mera Desh” to the gathering.

Sh.Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh also planted ‘Peepal’ on this occasion. Secretary Forests also planted a sapling on this occasion.

On this occasion, 75 no. saplings of different species were also planted by Councillors of Municipal Corporation, Girls of National Cadet Corps (NCC), Officers of Chandigarh Administration and other officials and frontline staff of Forest Department, UT Chandigarh.

The function was attended by Sh.Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh.Anup Gupta, Mayor (MC), Councillors of Municipal Corpn, Sh.Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, Secretary Forests, Sh.Praveer Ranjan (IPS), DGP, UT, Sh.R.K.Singh (IPS), IGP, Sh.T.C.Nautiyal, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, Sh.Arulrajan P., IFS, Conservator of Forests and other officers of Chandigarh Administration and officials of Forest Department, UT Chandigarh.
