Keeping in view the increasing cases of snatching in the city, as per the directions of W/SSP/UT Ms. Karwardeep Kaur, IPS under the close guidance of Sh. Mridul, W/SP/City Chandigarh and under the supervision of Sh. Dalbir Singh, DSP/South a team of officials of Police Station Sector-31, Chandigarh was constituted headed by SHO/PS-31, Chandigarh and on 09.07.2023, the team of PS 31, Chandigarh achieved a major success in bursting a gang of snatchers operating in Chandigarh and Mohali, as they arrested/apprehended one major and two juvenile.
A case FIR No. 109 dated 30.06.2023 U/S 379, 34 IPC of Police Station Sector-31, Chandigarh was registered on the complaint of Sh. Jaspreet Singh in which he stated that while he was going to home from Medical College & Hospital, Sector-48, Chandigarh on his bicycle and reached near dividing road,
Sector-46/47, Chandigarh. In the meantime two boys came on blue colour Sports Motorcycle, stanched his Samsung Galaxy A-12, mobile phone and ran away from the spot.
Acting upon a secret information, two juveniles were apprehended and another accused namely Sajanpreet Singh S/o Jagjit Singh R/o Near Karyana Store, Ballo Majra, PS-Balongi, Mohali age 19 years was also arrested from their arrest snatched mobile phone and motorcycle used in crime has been recovered.
Accused Sajanpreet Singh @ Sajan is also found involved in case FIR No.112 dated 04.07.2023 u/s 365,34 IPC & 25/54/59 Arms Act, Police Station Sector-31, Chandigarh in which a boy namely Abhisek was kidnapped in an Alto Car.
KNOW THE ACCUSED: Two (2) Juveniles and one major Sajanpreet Singh S/o Jagjit Singh, Near Karyana Store, Balomajra, PS-Balongi, Mohali, Age 19 yrs, studied upto 12th and was working as delivery boy in Zomato. Accused Sajjanpreet and one juvenile had a tainted past and committed several snatching in the area of Tri-city.(SUBHEAD)
From their arrest following cases have been worked out : FIR No 109 dated 30.06.2023 U/s 379A, 34 IPC added 411 IPC, PS-31, Chandigarh, FIR No. 113 dated 04.07.2023 u/s 379A,34 IPC,PS-39,Chandigarh. FIR No. 179 dated 10.07.2023 u/s 379B, 34 IPC, PS- 36, Chandigarh
Recoveries: from Sajanpreet Singh Samsung A-12 Mobile Phone and another vivo Y-35, mobile phone of case FIR No. 179 dated 10.07.2023 u/s 379B, 34 IPC Police Station Sector-36, Chandigarh (Vivo mobile Phone of victim Raman Kumar r/o House No. 2128, Sector-56, Chandigarh was snatched by three boys on a motor cycle near roundabout sector-42/43/52/53, Chandigarh).
Juvenile 1 Yahama R-1 five Motor cycle . Juvenile 2 Documents and (vivo mobile phone) of case FIR No. 113 dated 04.07.2023 u/s 379A,34 IPC registered in Police Station Sector39, Chandigarh (vivo mobile phone of victim Mohd. Arif r/o Palsora was snatched by three boys on a motor cycle). Besides this, total 14 costly mobile phones amounting nearly Rs.1,20,000/-, and two motor cycles approximate value Rs. 1,50,000/- have been recovered from their possession 13 mobile phone have been taken into police possession u/s 102 Cr.P.C.
Both juveniles were apprehended and sent to Juvenile Home. Accused Sajanpreet Singh is on two days police remand. Further investigation is in progress.
During interrogation accused Sajjanpreet Singh disclosed that on 30.06.2023, he alongwith his friend snatched a Samsung A-12 mobile phone from a person near Sector-46/47, Dividing Road and then they
fled away from the spot on stolen Yahma R-15 motor cycle. Thereafter, they left the motor cycle near toba, Sohana and from there he travelled by train from Ambala to Amrtisar and then Machhiwara, Gurdasspur.
