To celebrate the 8th Anniversary of Smart Cities Mission, Chandigarh Smart City Limited appreciated and felicitated the citizens of Chandigarh for giving their contribution in making the Public Bike Sharing Project a grand success. A flower and a souvenir was presented to the users of Smart Bike at the docking stations near Sukhna Lake and Sector 17 Chandigarh.

The aim behind the activity is to motivate the population to start and increase the use of bicycle and give their contribution in making the Chandigarh a pollution free, clean and green city.

Chandigarh Smart City has achieved a significant milestone by implementing the Largest Public Bike Sharing (PBS) project in India. The project, executed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), showcases the power of collaboration between the government and private entities to achieve remarkable outcomes.(MOREPIC4) (SUBHEAD)

The objective of the PBS project in Chandigarh was to improve mobility and provide residents with a convenient and accessible mode of transport. The bike fleet comprised a combination of electric and pedal bikes, catering to diverse needs and preferences. This variety empowered citizens to choose between electric bikes for effortless and efficient commuting or pedal bikes for a traditional cycling experience.It is not only providing the residents with a convenient and healthy means of commuting but also contributingin creating a cleaner and greener environment for all.

The Public Bike Sharing (PBS) project implemented by Chandigarh Smart City stands as the first and only initiative of its kind in the country. This eco-friendly project follows a unique model for sustainable urban transportation, wherein a concession fee is paid to the authority. To ensure citywide coverage, an impressive 617 docking stations will be established across Chandigarh accompanied with the fleet of 5000 cycles.

The success of the PBS project can be measured by the impressive numbers it has garnered. To date, the project has achieved a substantial user base, with an impressive 3.27 lakh registered users. These individuals have embraced the convenience and advantages offered by the PBS system. The enthusiasm for cycling has translated into a significant impact on the city's transportation landscape, with an astounding 8.76 lakh rides and 35 lakh kilometers covered through the project.

Chandigarh Smart City proudly celebrates the achievements of the largest Public Bike Sharing project in India, which has transformed the transportation landscape and set new benchmarks for sustainable urban development.
