VIGILANCE BUREAU REGISTERS CASE AGAINST NAIB TEHSILDAR, PATWARI, A WOMAN FOR MISUSING OFFICIAL POSITIONS, TEMPERING REVENUE RECORD

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption, has registered a criminal case against Amarjit Singh, Naib Tehsildar, Sub Tehsil Attari, Balwinderjit Singh, Patwari and a woman for misusing their official positions and tempering with revenue record to give undue benefit to the woman during transfer of land in her name. In this case Balwinderjit Singh Patwari, now Kanugo, revenue halqua Neshta, Amritsar district has been arrested and teams have been formed to arrest the remaining accused.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said this case has been registered against the above said accused officials and the lady after investigation of a vigilance enquiry.

(SUBHEAD)Giving details he added that during the probe it has came to light that the above said revenue officials in connivance with Harjeet Kaur of village Muhava, Amritsar district had transferred land measuring 79 Marlas in her name. He further added that while transferring the land in the name of above said woman, the accused officials had tempered with the revenue records as the owner of said land had died in the year 1959 and executed the transfer of land on the basis of photocopies of forged deeds and without ensuring physical presence of land owners.

The spokesperson added that in this regard a case under section 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B of IPC and section 7 of prevention of corruption act has been registered against all the above mentioned accused at VB police station, Amritsar range. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he informed.
