DC, SSP, MLA ASSURE HELP TO AFFECTED PEOPLE IN BAKAINWALA

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal, SSP Avneet Kaur Sidhu and Fazilka MLA Narinderpal Singh Sawna  on Sunday visited Bakainwala village and took stock of the relief work.

MLA Sawna said that help will be provided according to the Girdawari report, work of distribution of compensation will be done with full transparency. Tents have been set up for the victims in the village. Those whose houses have fallen will soon be constructed under the MGNREGA scheme.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal said that the work of Girdawari in the village is at the final stage. As per the survey damage to 58 houses in the village have been more or less damaged besides wheat fields and Kinnow orchards. The crop damage report will be ready by tomorrow. After this, the lists of the affected people will be posted at a common place in the village so that people can check it in a transparent manner. Final report will be sent to the government for compensation. Officials have been asked to distribute ration to the villagers.(SUBHEAD)

People said that the work of Girdawari is being done in just two days, this was appreciable. PSPCL staff were trying to restore power supply that had been disrupted due to natural calamity. Sarpanch Harjinder Singh said that besides giving tents to the affected people in the village, beds are also being provided.

MLA Sawna presented a Rs 83,000 cheque of his one month's salary to Sarpanch Harinder Singh and said that the Panchayat can use this amount to provide relief to the people. DC Dr. Senu Duggal announced to donate Rs 25,000 from her salary for the victims. Tehsildar Sukhdev Singh announced a help of Rs 50,000 for relief work.
