The Session Judge, Imphal (East), Manipur has today sentenced Shri Ningombam Rome Meitei @ Romen @ Micheal @ Ramesh Singh @ Loyalakpa and Shri Letkhosei Haokip @ James Kuki @ Letsei @ Seiboi @ Seisei @ George @ James @ King both to undergo Life Imprisonment in a case related to kidnapping & murder of a minor girl.
CBI had registered a case on 29.03.2004 on the request of Manipur Government and taken over the investigation of FIR No. 181(11) dated 05.11.2003, earlier registered at Police Station Lamphel against unknown culprits. It was alleged that Miss Lungnila Elizabeth (aged 8 years), daughter of Shri Francis Ngajokpa, the then Minister in Government of Manipur was kidnapped on 04.11.2003 from a school located at Sangaiprou, Imphal West District, Manipur where she was studying. She was found dead on 12.11.2003 inside a gunny bag in a ditch at Tera Sadokpam Leikai, Imphal West District, Manipur.
After investigation, a charge sheet was filed on 28.12.2007 against four accused. During the trial, two accused expired.
The Trial Court found the said accused guilty and convicted them.
