A case FIR No. 24, U/S 419, 420, 120-B IPC has been registered in PS-Cyber Crime, Chandigarh on the complaint of a lady (age-44 years) resident of Chandigarh in which she stated that she had updated her number on jeevansathi app.
On 19.01.2023, she received a WhatsApp message from an unknown person who identified himself as Vipan from Texas. Later during the chat he said he is coming to India to marry her. On 13.02.2023, complainant received a call from an unknown lady that she is calling from Airport authority and her friend Vipan has arrived with huge gold and dollar, so if she wants to release the items then she has to deposit money in the account provided. Complainant deposited Rs. 36,000/- and 2,55,800/- in their account. Investigation of the case is in progress.
