MINISTER LAL CHAND KATARUCHAK CONDUCTS SURPRISE CHECKING OF PATIALA DISTRICT GODOWNS

The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak today conducted surprise checking of the godowns in Patiala District and checked the wheat stock lying there. 

(MOREPIC1)  Visiting the Samana, Bhunarheri and Sanaur godowns, the Minister said that we are duty bound to ensure proper upkeep of the foodgrains produced with great effort by the farmers of the State, hence the checking of godowns in different regions. He said that the Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is fully committed to provide a transparent governance mechanism to the people and it is as part of this commitment that the functioning of the Food and Civil Supplies Department is reviewed from time to time. (SUBHEAD)

Expressing satisfaction during the checking drive, Mr. Kataruchak said that the foodgrains kept in the godowns are being maintained in a hygienic manner and adequate arrangements are being made in the godowns from now itself to make room for the new crops to be harvested during the oncoming season. The officers are directed to make sure that the foodgrains kept inside the godowns is taken care of properly apart from updating during evening the record of lifting process carried out in the godowns daily, said Mr. Kataruchak. 

Divulging more, the Minister added that the main motive of today's surprise checking was to have a detailed knowledge of the working system of the godowns and employees besides getting to know the problems being faced by them. He further said that the Chief Minister has given explicit directions that zero tolerance would be exercised in respect of any negligence. He also mentioned that such checkings at the godowns would be carried out in future too. 

Among others present on the occasion included the Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Ghanshyam Thori apart from the DFSC Dr. Ravinder Kaur and staff of the department.
