Auto Drivers Union had a meeting with Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, Secretary Transport Chandigarh Administration in the presence of Sh. Amit Kumar, Secretary State Transport Authority UT Chandigarh, Sh. Pradhuman Singh, Director Transport, Sh. Jaswinder Singh DSP Traffic alongwith Representatives of Chief Engineer, Chief Architect and Municipal Corporation.
The Secretary Transport Chandigarh Administration has directed DSP Traffic UT Chandigarh to affix stickers on the remaining autos which are registered in UT Chandigarh and Autos which are registered in Mohali and Panchkula but having counter signatures of permits by STA.
The process regarding affixation of stickers has been decided to be completed by 28th February 2023.
Secretary Transport directed that the auto rickshaw owners whose documents are complete in all respects and they intend to get their auto permits countersigned in Mohali and Panchkula may submit the application with RC to express the willingness to STA office till 1.3.2023.(SUBHEAD)
If applications are received more than the quota available for counter signatures of permits, the applications will be selected on the basis of draw of lots by STA and the exercise to be get completed by 15th March 2023.
A letter be addressed to RTA Mohali and Panchkula for sending recommendations of autos (500 each) from respective city to get their autos countersigned and after countersignatures of autos , stickers on them will also be affixed by traffic police. The process to be completed till 31st March 2023. Intensive Joint Enforcement against plying of illegal autos will be started w.e.f. 1.4.2023.
During the discussion some locations in the city were identified where the highest density of autos is found. For smooth conduct of traffic and better management of pick and drop facility by auto operators, the Secretary Transport directed the representative of Chief Architect to designate parking space for autos near bus queue shelters. He also directed to ensure availability of proper basic amenities such as drinking water and toilets for auto rickshaw operators.
