Water Resources Minister Gurmeet Singh “Meet Hayer”, DIG Rakesh Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal and SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, at the district level Republic Day function, especially honoured Baljit Singh, in-charge of police station Khuiyansarwer, for being a pioneer in curbing drug trafficking.
Officials said that the Khuiyansarwer police under the command of Baljit Singh made the biggest seizure in the recent past of 408-kg poppy husk that was hidden in salt bags recently by searching a truck near the inter-state Gumjal barrier.
Before this, 2700 intoxicant pills and 290 vials were recovered from a vehicle, then 1800 intoxicant pills and 180 vials, after that 28-kg poppy, followed by a catch of 18-kg poppy husk was made. Apart from controlling the incidents of theft through strict patrolling, 4 persons were held who had allegedly beaten to death a bus conductor after stopping him on the way, the culprits had left no clue on the spot. Due to such performance, it was decided to honor the SHO. Earlier he was awarded the DGP Disc Award in 2019 on the basis of exemplary performance as incharge of the CIA staff here.
