VIGILANCE BUREAU NABS REVENUE PATWARI, HIS ACCOMPLICE RED HANDED FOR TAKING BRIBE RS. 40,000

Aiming to curb the menace of corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Friday nabbed a revenue Patwari Sodhi Singh, posted at revenue halqua Panchhta, in Kapurthala district and his accomplice Kulwinder Kumar of Subash Nagar, Phagwara red handed for accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of VB said the above said Patwari and his agent were arrested on the complaint of Sivraj Rana, resident of Satnampura, Phagwara.

Giving more details he informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said Patwari and his accomplice have demanded a bribe of Rs. 70,000 for registration and mutation of land in the name of his father.(SUBHEAD)

After verifying his complaint a VB team laid a trap and the accused Patwari and his accomplice were arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000 as a first instalment from the complainant and the tainted money was recovered from them in the presence of two official witnesses, he added.

He informed that a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against both the accused at VB police Jallandhar and further investigation was under progress.
