MARTYR CAPTAIN NAVPAL SIDHU REMEMBERED ON BALIDAN DIWAS

People gathered pay tributes to Captain Navpal Singh Sidhu Vir Chakra on the 20th Martyrdom Day at his memorial at village Chak 40 RB on the Padampur Road.

Chief guest Lok Sabha MP Nihal Chand laid a wreath and said that Navpal's supreme sacrifice in the interest of the nation will always be remembered. His was a great deed by registering the name of a small village in the golden pages of history by killing three Pak militants under a mission on December 30, 2002 in Surankote, Jammu and Kashmir.

Surinder Pal Singh TTE former state minister said that we breathe peacefully because of the martyrs. Navpal was a real hero of the country. Rakesh Sharma said that Navpal became a strong link in the Indian Army by setting an example of bravery under a mission drawing inspiration from his father Colonel Agyapal Singh who had participated in the Indo-Pak wars in 1965 and 1971.

(SUBHEAD)Bhoj Raj Jain said that whether we live or not, the world will always remember the sacrifices of the martyrs of security forces. Tehsildar Mohinder Singh Ratnu said that Navpal was an example of bravery for which our nation will be indebted to him. Colonel Daljit Singh Dhillon (Retd) and Colonel Agyapal Singh Sidhu (Retd) thanked the gathering.

Hari Singh Khalsa, Chief of Har Prabh Aasra Ashram and other prominent people also offered floral tributes. Shaheed Navpal Sidhu Trust secretary Ghanshyam Harwani said that blankets will be distributed soon by Kalpataru Power Transmission management to needy people as a tribute to the martyr Navpal.
