THE MOVEMENT TO RESTORE THE SANCTITY OF THE JAIN PILGRIMAGE SAMMED SHIKHAR ENTERS A DECISIVE PHASE

To harm the sanctity and independent identity of Shri Sammed Shikhar, a gazette notification was issued by the Union Ministry of Forests on the recommendation of Jharkhand Government. The Jain community has launched an agitation across the world to pursue the govt. declare the Parvatraj and Madhuban as sacred Jain pilgrimage sites. Shri Sammed Shikharji Bachao Andolan is now in a decisive phase.

Pramod Tiwari, Shrirang Appa Barne, Shankar Lalwani, Sunil Soni, Haji Fazlur Rehman, Nakul Nath and Manoj Tiwari, MPs from various political parties have raised this issue effectively in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, as a result of which the Govt. of Jharkhand has given positive signals. The Union Archaeology Minister has also written a letter to the Jharkhand Govt.

Convener of Vishwa Jain Sangathan, Punjab state, Dr. Sandeep Kumar Jain said that the movement will continue until the Ministry of Environment and Forests withdraws the notification of notifying a part of Sammed peak under eco-tourism in August 2019. Sanjay Jain, President of Vishwa Jain Sangathan, will go on fast unto death in Delhi from 26th December in case no decision is taken by the Central Govt. till 25th December 2022 and the movement will continue in the entire country.(SUBHEAD)

The fast unto death was also started by Sanjay Jain to get the status of religious minority to the Jain community. On which the hunger strike was ended with the efforts of Pradeep Jain Aditya, minister of the then Congress government, and the Jain community was given the status of a religious minority.

The Jain community expressed its anger in Delhi, Toronto (Canada), Indore, Sonipat and other cities and placed its demand with the Central Govt. and the Jharkhand Govt. The main demands of the Jain community are to declare Shri Sammed Shikhar ji, the highest pilgrimage center of the Jain society, as a holy Jain pilgrimage site without delay, security arrangements by the CRPF, to stop encroachment, sale and purchase of meat and liquor in the pilgrimage area.

Punjab state General Secretary Ravinder Jain, Purushottam Jain, Joint Secretary Rakesh Jain have demanded the President and the Prime Minister to accept these demands immediately so that the peace-loving society, which has contributed a lot in the development of the country, can protect its rights and religious places.
