In consonance with Social Welfare Department, an Anti-Beggary drive was planned by SDPO East Ms Palak Goel and Ms Prabhjot Kaur from Social Welfare Department , Chandigarh Administration at Grain Market, Sector 26, Chandigarh.
The drive was carried out on Wednesday at 6:00 AM by SHO 26, in convergence with team of Chandigarh Police; Labour Department, Chandigarh Administration; Women & Child Helpline and DCPO from Social Welfare Department. It was a 2 hour long along drive.
8 kids aged between 7-12 years (2 females and 6 males) rescued. After medical examination, Social Welfare Department took them to Snehalya, where they will be counselled and incase any abetting is found, appropriate action will be taken against the accused thereafter under the Haryana Prevention of Beggary Act and JJ Act.
