This is the first time in 71 years that there is a reigning Miss Universe and reigning Miss World 1st Runner-Up, both of Indian and Punjabi origins. Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu belongs to Punjab's capital Chandigarh and Miss World 1st Runner-up Shree Saini's place of birth is Ludhiana and maternal parents live in Abohar.
A program was organized in Seattle America in honour of Shree Saini and Harnaaz Sandhu. Shree Saini was looking absolutely healthy after heart surgery. Both of the beauty queens shared their experiences related to the world of glamour and social service.(SUBHEAD)
Expressing her feelings in the presence of her mother Ekta and father Sanjay and other guests, Shree Saini said, “Harnaaz and I started from zero with simple dreams to make a meaningful impact and struggled for years to represent our countries at the international level. Our stories embody collective messages of hope, encouragement, faith and a consistent work ethic.
I express my gratitude to all those organizations and dignitaries including the parents who helped us reach this point. On this expression of Shree Saini, the people present raised the slogan “Chak de Phatte”.
Shree said, “I start each day with a prayer that God helps me to use my mind. Please help me for the betterment of society and the world. Help me to share joy and harmony with everyone and fill my life with pure love.”
