Face2News/Abohar.

None of the five of a family, who were booked by the city police under Sections 306 and 511 of the IPC for allegedly abetting suicide of Sahib Singh of Kotkapura here on October 14 has so far been arrested.

(MOREPIC1)   Some relatives of the deceased reached here and staged a dharna (sit-in) outside the sub divisional office complex and also blocked the road. They carried placards and shouted slogans against the local police and state government that, they said, have been repeatedly playing the rhetoric of good governance, quick action against the accused and speedy justice to the affected people.

Deceased's mother Krishna Kumari and brother Sandeep Singh said that 39-year-old brother Sahib Singh of Gurudwara Bhora Sahib Khudia, Kotkapura had come to Abohar on October 11 to meet his wife and children, but his in-laws did not allow him to meet his children who had come to her maternal house in Krishna Nagari for the last 7 months due to a domestic dispute, for which he was worried. He tried to commit suicide by setting himself on fire in front of her in-laws' house. He died on October 13 during treatment in Bathinda.

A case was registered naming Sahib Singh’s wife Renuka, latter’s sister Monica, brother Ashish, mother Sumitra Devi and father Satyanarain Goyal in the FIR but all were reportedly roaming free and none was held.

The dharna ended when SP (D) Gurvinder Singh Sangha came here from Fazilka and assured the angry family members that the accused would be arrested soon and justice would be provided to the victim's family.
