The police have arrested the Deputy Superintendent (DSP) of the Central jail in Ferozepur for allegedly providing mobile phones, SIM and drugs to the jail inmates including various gangsters, drug smugglers, terrorists and other criminals.
As per information, the erring Deputy Superintendent identified as Gurcharan Singh Dhariwal was taking huge amount of money from the jail inmates for providing them mobile phones and other material. While divulging more details, Surinder Lamba SSP said that Inspector Mohit Dhawan SHO city police station had received inputs that the erring DSP was allegedly providing mobile phones and drugs to the jail inmates in connivance with other jail officials.
The SSP said that as per the initial information, the drugs, mobiles and other material was brought into the jail and later these items were provided to the notorious jail inmates with the help of other jail staff members.
(SUBHEAD)“The police also got the information that Dhariwal along with his other accomplices was planning to bring a huge consignment of mobiles and drugs from across the border with the help of a drone as he was allegedly in touch with the various subversive elements and croos border smugglers from other side of the fence”. Said SSP Lamba.
The erring jail official has been booked by the police under sections 120-B IPC, 7/8 PC Act, 42 Prisons Act besides 23, 29 NDPS Act at city police station (FIR No. 449 Dated 10.11.2022). ” We will present him before the court and ask for police remand today” said Mohit Dhawan SHO.
