During National Cyber Security Awareness Month October, 2022, Chandigarh Police organized 3rd Hackathon event on 28th & 29th October, 2022 in association with Infosys Pvt. Ltd, Chandigarh and HDFC Bank Chandigarh, as per the guidelines of MHA, Government of India under Cyber Swachtha Mission.
50 teams from different colleges across India submitted their solutions to the given problem statements. Total 14 teams consisting 48 participants from various IT universities i.e. Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh, Gharuan University, The North Cap University, Gurugram, IIT Jodhpur, Rajasthan etc were shortlisted for the 2-day in person event at Infosys campus.
Team- JMIT Unplugged from Seth Jai Prakash Mukund Lal Institute of Technology was declared 1st winner & Team- Botify from Chandigarh University, Team- WeSecure from IIT Jodhpur are the Joint 2nd winners. The winning teams will be given prizes by Hon’ble Governor cum Administrartor UT Chandigarh Sh Banwarilal Purohit on Nov 11 during the Raising Day Parade of Chandigarh Police at Police Lines, sec 26.
Different problems statement assigned were Ensuring Safety & Security of Women & Senior Citizen using IT, Cyber Space patrolling for anti-national & illegal activities, Integration of CCTV feeds from various cameras, Alert Generation for suspicious calls and messages to prevent Cyber Crime, Real time monitoring of emergency calls and police response, automated monitoring & response system for Chandigarh Police social media handles.
Team JMIT Unplugged and Botify presented solution on Automated Monitoring & Response System for Chandigarh Police Social Media handles. Their solution proposes automated and personalized reply to the tweets mentioning Chandigarh police, sending information to concerned units, sentiment analysis of various posts, identifying hotspots of crime and potential threats, registration of complaints using chatbox, customizable dashboard for social media monitoring, etc.
WeSecure team presents solution for the women and senior citizens living alone by proposing a motion-activated webcam installed at the entrance which captures the faces and video stream of those coming at the gate, which is then sent for processing. ML algorithm classifies the face as known, unknown or suspect as per the database and accordingly informs the resident, family members and local Police Station.
Chandigarh Police will endeavour to develop these solutions more professionally in collaboration with the teams and Infosys so as to implement them in the direction of SMART policing.
