Abohar, (Dalip Kumar)
After going through the period of wastage of Narma cotton and kinnow due to natural calamity and lack of proper management of canal water, now farmers are struggling to get D.A.P manure. This situation is the biggest challenge for the Aam Aadmi Party's government at the present time. But no arrangement was made to deal with it.
Expressing this view, MLA Sandeep Jakhar said that the AAP government, which claims to be farmer friendly, did not pay any attention to advance arrangements for D.A.P fertilizers. In district Fazilka, farmers were in need of 26 thousand metric tonnes of D.A.P manure so that crop production could be correct in Rabi season, but till November 8, the state government has been able to arrange only 16 thousand metric tonnes of D.A.P manure. Due to shortage of 10 thousand metric tonnes, there is a fight for D.A.P fertilizer. The claims of the government that came to power by giving the slogan of change have once again proved to be hollow. He said that due to white fly attack and unseasonal rains, large quantity of soft cotton crop was destroyed. The kinnu orchards dried up due to non-availability of canal water on time. Not only the farmers and gardeners but thousands of labor families dependent on them are also facing financial crisis. The Punjab government had announced to provide relief to the farmers by first completing the process of girdawari for compensation by 30 September and then by 31 October. But till now, even a single penny is not getting in the name of relief. Now if D.A.P fertilizers are not made available, then even the coming crop will not be able to get the farmers out of this crisis. The Chief Minister himself should intervene in this matter and arrange for manure.
