PUNJAB AT ONE SIGHT: BONANZA FOR PREGNANT WOMEN, RS. 10.40 CRORE HAS BEEN DISTRIBUTED TO 60,912 BENEFICIARIES UNDER THE MATRU VANDANA YOJANA

The Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has distributed Rs. 10.40 crore to the pregnant women and lactating mothers to improve the nutrition and health status.

Giving more information in this regard, Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development Department Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the government is continuously working to improve the nutrition and health status of pregnant women and lactating mothers. She said that under this scheme, there are a total of 60912 women beneficiaries in the state, to whom 10.40 crores have been distributed so far and the state government has reserved a budget of 36.60 crores for this scheme.

Dr. Baljit Kaur further said that earlier benefit of Rs. 5000/- was given in three installments (Rs. 1000+2000+2000) to women aged 19 years and above on the birth of their first living child Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. But April 2022 will be given in two installments of five thousand rupees under maternity benefit to women belonging to socially and economically weaker sections of the society. This assistance is given to pregnant women and lactating mothers to uplift their nutritional and health status subject to fulfillment of special conditions. 

PUNJAB WILL BE TB FREE BY 2025: CHETAN SINGH JAURAMAJRA 

Elaborating on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government's achievement and future plan to eradicate TB by 2025, Health and Family Welfare Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra on Wednesday said that eight districts of Punjab has already received bronze category certification and the department has set an aim to get five more districts in silver category and three more in bronze category in the coming year.

Revealing this, the Health Minister said that for the year 2022-23 department has set a target to identify and treat 70,000 patients. He said that Punjab Health and Family Welfare department has organised a two day workshop at the MGSIPA Chandigarh with an aim to eradicate TB by bringing down the new incidence of TB cases by more than 80%.  

 

GRANT WORTH RS.23 CRORES FOR IMPROVING GOVT. SCHOOLS' INFRA
 
In order to provide better basic amenities in government schools, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab government has released grant worth around Rs.23 crore.

Giving further details, School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that more than Rs.12 crore will be incurred for the construction of state-of-the-art additional classrooms, libraries, art & craft rooms and toilets, while an additional grant of over Rs.10 crore has also been released to continue ongoing works. Further elaborating, the Cabinet Minister said that Rs.81.81 lakh for District Amritsar, Rs.44 lakh for Barnala, Rs.30 lakh for Bathinda, Rs.24.68 lakh for Faridkot, Rs.8.44 lakh for Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs.1.35 crore for Fazilka, Rs.1.21 crore for Ferozepur, Rs.67 lakh for Gurdaspur, Rs.43 lakh for Hoshiarpur, Rs.58 lakh for Jalandhar, Rs.86.76 lakh for Kapurthala, Rs.64.60 lakh for Ludhiana, Rs.24.92 lakh for Malerkotla, Rs.18.80 lakh for Mansa, Rs.31.67 lakh for Moga, Rs.65.23 lakh for Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Rs.27.50 lakh for Sri Muktsar Sahib, Rs.4.20 lakh for SBS Nagar, Rs.25 lakh for Pathankot, Rs.74.62 lakh for Patiala, Rs.17.40 lakh for Rupnagar, Rs.79 lakh for Sangrur and Rs.1.31 crore released for district Tarn Taran.

Similarly, Rs.10.34 crore will be incurred on ongoing works in various schools if the state, which included Rs.73.87 lakh for district Amritsar, Rs.10.35 lakh for Barnala, Rs.4.46 lakh for Bathinda, Rs.92.57 lakh for Faridkot, Rs.27.57 lakh for Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs.16.77 lakh for Fazilka, Rs.1.12 crore each for Ferozepur and Gurdaspur, Rs.38.12 lakh for Hoshiarpur, Rs.64.72 lakh for Jalandhar, Rs.37.14 lakh for Kapurthala, Rs.86.23 lakh for Ludhiana, Rs.7 lakh for Malerkotla, Rs.29.57 lakh for Mansa, Rs.40 lakh for Moga, Rs.78,000 for SAS Nagar, Rs.9.85 lakh for Sri Muktsar Sahib, Rs.9.57 lakh for SBS Nagar, Rs.27.58 lakh for Pathankot, Rs.89.84 lakh for Patiala, Rs.74 lakh for Rupnagar, Rs.64.99 lakh for Sangrur and Rs.4.26 lakh for district Tarn Taran.
