Acting on the directions of the Hon’ble Governor, Education Department is all set to undertake the online monitoring of EWS and disadvantaged group admission process 2023-24 in the entry classes of the private recognised schools of UT Chandigarh.
As per the existing practice, in accordance with the RTE Act, 2009, Unaided recognised school admit children to entry class belonging to Economically weaker section and disadvantaged group in the neighbourhood. The admitted children constitute at least twenty-five per cent (25%) of the strength of class, and the schools provide free and compulsory elementary education till completion.
This year onwards, the admission to entry class for the next academic session in the Private Recognised schools shall be done through computerised online admission system. For this, the parents shall have to fill online form for admission at the Entry Level Classes (Nursery/Pre-school, KG/Pre-primary, Class-I) through the online system, citing Complete details of the child as well as the parents, and uploading of requisite documents, subsequent which a unique ID shall be allotted to the student.(SUBHEAD)
The parents shall have the option of filling in a choices of Private Schools near to his/her residence depending upon the distance i.e. schools within 0-1KM, 1-3Km and 3-6 KM. The mapping of distance matrix of all private school shall aid in filling up the admission form of the child, and shall ultimately aid in the admission of the student in accordance with the RTE norms of distance.
In this regard today a stakeholder consultation meeting was held by the Director School Education with all the principals of the Unaided Recognised Non Minority schools wherein the the preliminary details were discussed and the NIC developed software was shown to the schools. The time line for these admission were also discussed I.e admission for EWS to commence around the Mid- Dec 2022 upto Mid Jan 2023.
Adequate advertisement will be undertaken by the department to ensure that all admission for EWS are held efficiently. It was also decided that All schools will have help desks to assist with the admission process.
Going on the lines of catchphrase of the flagship programme ‘ Digital India’ of Govt of India, this initiative of the Department would aid in bringing transparency to the admission process and evade any erroneous manual interventions.
