PUBLIC AWARENESS WILL PLAY CRUCIAL ROLE IN ERADICATING CORRUPTION : VARINDER KUMAR

In a bid to promote transparency, accountability, probity and integrity in the society, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Monday sensitised its officers/officials while celebrating 'vigilance awareness week' to spread awareness about the evil effects of corruption.

On the commencement of this week, Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann has also sent a message for the public to cooperate with the government in its anti corruption campaign for providing corruption free administration in the state. Punjab CM has asked the people to send correct information on the anti-corruption action line WhatsApp number 95012-00200 and nobody would be spared for any corrupt practices. The 'Vigilance Awareness Week’ would be observed across the state from October 31 to November 6.(SUBHEAD)

Disclosing this here today, Sh Varinder Kumar, ADGP-cum-Chief Director Vigilance Bureau said this outreach activity is aimed at to spread awareness among the public to play a crucial role in eradicating corruption from the the government offices and society.

This awareness week would be seen as our continuous effort to involve public as active participants in ensuring a ‘corruption free state’ and also inspire the officers to implement preventive measures effectively so that transparency and accountability could be maintained, he added.

He further informed that motto of this awareness week was to create a corruption free society under the theme of 'Corruption free India for a developed Nation' as conceived by the Central Vigilance Commission. The VB Chief asked the officers/officials to work efficiently and clear the backlog of pending vigilance cases.

On the commencement of vigilance awareness week Joint Director Administration Vigilance Bureau Kanwaldeep Singh administered integrity pledge to all officers and employees of the bureau. Among others present on the occasion included Rahul S. Director Vigilance Bureau and all officers/officials at the headquarters.

Meanwhile vigilance awareness week was also organised in all vigilance ranges and sub divisions where field officers administered oath of integrity to vigilance staff. The range SSPs have also chalked out various awareness programmes to be conducted in the educational institutions and offices during the week.
