A youth was murdered on the night of Diwali in Mauli Jagaran of Chandigarh at midnight on the eve of Diwali Festival. The incident took place at around 12.30 pm in Mauli Jagaran. The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep Sharma (26) of Baltana (Mohali). The police have registered a case of murder on the complaint of the deceased's brother Abhishek. Accused still at large.

The accused started beating his brother. When Abhishek and his friend Sehwag went to intervene, an accused attacked Abhishek with a brick on his head. At the same time, the other accused stabbed his brother Kuldeep in the chest. Accused escaped by stabbing a knife in Sehwag's back.
Abhishek's friend Deepu took the injured friends in his car to the government hospital in Sector 6 of Panchkula for treatment. Here the doctors declared Kuldeep dead.
