18 BSF riders, who resolved to undertake the 2112-km expedition from Octroi BoP in Jammu and Kashmir to Bhuj (Gujarat) in 32 days, were accorded a warm welcome on their arrival at the BSF sector headquarters here. On both sides of the road, BSF men, who were waiting with tricolor on both sides of the road, raised patriotic slogans and greeted the riders with flower petals.

(SUBHEAD)(MOREPIC1)  55 Battalion Commandant KN Tripathi, Commandant (Adm) Shailender Kumar Mishra, Commandant (Ops) Ram Chander and Deputy Commandant Gurdeep Singh welcomed the cyclists. A documentary on the Indo-Pak war was also screened in the reception hall.

Prashant Kumar, Assistant Commandant of the 92 Battalion, who is leading the cycle expedition, said that the cyclists, while passing through various cities of Punjab, inspired the youth at many places to join the Border Security Force and advised them to stay away from drugs and other social evils. The riders were warmly greeted on their way by people, he claimed.

In his welcome address, Commandant Tripathi said that cyclists will enter Rajasthan from here and end the journey by reaching Bhuj sector headquarter of the BSF in Gujarat on November 13. He said that the name of Punjab, a symbol of power, has been affected badly due to drug trafficking, people were also worried about pollution and global warming. The BSF is cooperating to rectify this situation. It has been observed during the cycle expedition not only the BSF but the general public was also feeling proud of the bravery of the cyclists.
