To commemorate 75th anniversary of independence, the nation is filled with patriotic zeal these days and as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ & ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharam College, Chandigarh took out a Cycle rally & Marathon on Saturday.
The rally was organised from college premises to Gurdwara Sahib in sector 34. Total 80 members comprising of teaching staff, students, non-teaching staff, NSS and NCC cadets participated in the event. On this occasion, Sh. Upinder Kumar (Management Member, GGDSD Society) flagged off the Marathon rally. Students and Teachers participated in the run holding the national flag in their hands and carrying a message to promote mass hoisting of the tricolour at home from August 13 to 15. The rally which was organised by GGDSD College in collaboration with SD Aadarsh Foundation (College NGO) concluded at the same venue after completing the route to Gurdwara Sahib situated in sector 34.
The participants also reached out to local populace enroute and apprised them of the importance of National Flag and to hoist the flag at each and every household as part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign of the government.
Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal of GGDSD College appreciated the efforts made by organising team and those who took part in this event. Dr. Sharma expressed that all the participants exhibited immense vigour during the course of the marathon. Capt. (Dr.) Virender Singh said that the initiative's goal is to instil patriotism in the minds of the collegiate fraternity and to raise awareness about the Indian National Flag.
The participants were offered refreshments after the completion of rally. From the charters of GGDSD College to the innumerable wonderful ceremonies commemorating those who sacrificed their lives for the nation, we strive to strengthen our students and to make the country and the tricolour proud.
