In the run of strengthening the security of the National Capital ahead of the Independence Day Celeberation-2022, East District police is on high alert and extensive vigil are being maintained in the area specially at vital installations, market places and other places of high footfall areas etc. The extensive vigil by the alert staff of PS PIA, East District led to the busting of a syndicate involved in illegal trafficking of ammunition and recovery a huge quantity of illegal ammunition i.e. 2251 live cartridges of various brands.
On 06/08/22, in order to prevent any untoward incident in view of forthcoming 75th Independence Day, H.C Vikrant No. 1958/E along with Ct. Rohit was on patrolling duty. At around 6.30 AM, when they reached near Competent Motors, they spotted two suspects with a trolley bag going towards Parking No.-1.
On seeing the police personnel, they got flustered and changed their way and started moving briskly. However, the police personnel acted swiftly and intercepted them. On being enquired, they started making various excuses. On being suspicious, the police personnel made a thorough search of both the suspects. On their search, huge quantity of ammunition i.e. 2251 live cartridges including various types of imported ammunition were recovered. The suspects were immediately apprehended who were identified as Ajmal Khan and Rashid @ Lallan. Both are the residents of Vill. Suetha Kalan, Distt. Jaunpur,UP.
Accordingly, a case under Arms Act was registered and investigation was taken up. During investigation, both the accused persons were arrested. On sustained interrogation accused persons disclosed they have received this ammunition from a person in Dehradun, Uttarakhand and the same was to be delivered to one person in Lucknow (name and other detail withheld). Accused persons also disclosed that they had already supplied the similar consignment 4-5 times in the past.(SUBHEAD)
Considering the sensitivity of the matter, various teams under the direct supervision of Ms. Priyanka Kashyap, DCP/East, under the leadership of Sh. Sachin Sharma, Addl. DCP-I, East, ACP/ Madhu Vihar, Sh. Nirav Patel and comprising of Insp. Inspr. Surender Kumar, SHO/PIA, Insp. K.P. Rana, Insp. AATS, Insp. Gaurav Chaudhary, Insp. ANC, East, SI Rahul Monga, SI Amit Chaudhary ASI Neeraj were constituted to unearth both the source and the receivers of the consignment.
The teams so constituted worked relentlessly in mounting electronic surveillance and gathering human intelligence. On the basis of the clues obtained, one team headed by Sh. Nirav Patel, ACP/Madhu Vihar immediately proceeded to Lucknow & Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh to nab the other members of the syndicate who were the receivers of the consignment. The team raided at several places and finally one of the proposed receivers namely Saddam was nabbed from Village Suetha Kalan, District Jaunur, Uttar Pradesh.
Simultaneously, another team was sent to Dehradun, Uttarakhand to find the source of the illegal ammunition. Though the team did not have any specific information about the target but on the basis of information available, the team worked tirelessly in collecting intelligence and scanning the CCTV cameras at and around the location where the consignment was exchanged.
Ms. Priyanka Kashyap, IPS, DCP, East Distt., said, the efforts of the team yielded a positive result and the team was successful in identifying one accused namely Parikshit Negi, who runs a gun house in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The team immediately raided its place and arrested him. He was brought to Delhi and on sustained interrogation he further disclosed that he had procured the ammunition from several Gun Houses in Uttarakhand as well as other sources and after manipulating the records of his gun house, he further supplied the ammunition to the accused persons already arrested.
He also disclosed that he has been frequently involved in such illegal trafficking of the arms and ammunition and has already supplied the ammunition to the same person 4-5 times in the past. As per the version of accused Parikshit Negi, he had already supplied thousands of Cartridges to the same syndicate at different places.
The accused identified as Ajmal r/o Village-Suetha Kalan, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, Age- 20 Years. (Arrested on the spot with the consignment who was taking it from Dehradun to Lucknow), Rashid @ Lallan r/o Suetha Kalan, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, Age- 20 Years. (Arrested on the spot with the consignment who was taking it from Dehradun to Lucknow), arikshit Negi r/o Dehradun, Uttarkhand.Age-42 Years. (He used to arrange the ammunition from various Gun Houses and other sources), Saddam R/o Suetha Kalan, UP. ( One of the proposed receivers of the consignment), Kamran R/o Yamuna Vihar, Delhi. (Who used to supply the cartridges to Parikshit Negi) and Nasir, R/o Roorki, Uttarakhand. (Who used to supply the cartridges to Parikshit Negi)
Recovery: Total 2251 Live Cartrdges.
Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, some detail has been withheld for further investigation. Some more arrests are likely to be made and more ammunition and chain of supply are likely to be exposed.
