Pushpa Gujral Science City organized Science Fest 2025 to promote innovation and creativity among school students by providing a platform to showcase working models in various fields of Science and Technology. More than 300 students from schools across Punjab participated and displayed their interactive and innovative models during the event.
Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director, Science City, in his address said that creativity emerges from three elements working together—knowledge, curiosity and imagination which collectively drive innovation. He stated that a stronger knowledge base and an eagerness to learn make it easier to develop great ideas. However, knowledge alone does not guarantee creativity. He stressed the importance of providing young minds with the space to think freely so they can produce meaningful outcomes for the welfare of society. He advised students not to let their natural curiosity fade because of fear or shyness.
(MOREPIC1)Dr. Grover expressed appreciation for the creativity and effort demonstrated by students in addressing pressing global challenges such as climate change, healthcare, agriculture and sustainable development. He further, added that such innovative thinking at a young age is truly encouraging and that today’s learners will evolve into the innovators and problem-solvers who will shape a better and more sustainable future.
Er. Ritesh Pathak, Scientist D PGSC encouraged young innovators to explore the Innovation Hub at Science City where their ideas can be shaped into practical and useful projects. He shared that converting imagination into real outcomes builds confidence and encourages continuous learning.
A panel of experts including Dr. Balwinder Raj, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Sah and Dr. Afzal from NIT Jalandhar, evaluated the innovative projects presented by the students and also guided them with valuable suggestions for further improvement.
Results of Science Fest 2025 On this occasion, experts from NIT Jalandhar — Dr. Afzal, Dr. Balwinder Raj, and Dr. Mahesh Kumar — inspected the research-based models prepared by the students. In this science fair, the first prize of ₹5000 was won by BCM Arya Model School, Ludhiana, while the second prize of ₹3000 was secured by Shaheed Sipahi Sandeep Singh Government Eminence School, Bathinda. Similarly, Innocent Hearts, Lohara (Jalandhar) won the third prize of ₹2000.
