INTERROGATION:

Ms.Vichitra Veer, IPS, DCP, Crime Branch (AHTU), said, during interrogation, it has been revealed that Jyoti has been working in an IVF clinic, where she used to come in contact with the couples who could not have children. That gave her ‘possible clients’. At different points in time, she had come in contact with the other accused persons and all of them saw an opportunity to make quick money by selling children to such couples.

Jyoti used to approach them cautiously if they would show any interest in adopting a child. If they showed any interest, she promised that for an agreed sum, she would take care of all the hassles related to adoption process.

These individuals knew one Qutabuddin R/o Village:- Moti Pahari, P.S Bhorio, Distict:- Sahab Ganj, Jharkhand, who is the person to arrange and bring newly born babies from Jharkhand and handover the same to one Salmi Devi @ Simran w/o John R/o R-2/11, Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar, Delhi.

Amongst themselves, they had such a coordination that the kid used to exchange hands so many times before being handed over to the ‘client’ and if one is caught, the information would be passed on to other members immediately and they would disappear. In the present case also, it took a lot of effort to unearth the entire group. A team was also immediately sent to Jharkhand to nab Qutabuddin, but he had already disappeared from there by then. Pawan@Mama has a previous involvement also in a kidnapping case, in which he is running out on bail.
