LAKHWINDER WINS SILVER IN WORLD MASTERS ATHLETICS

Lakhwinder Singh, serving as Naib Court here, has won silver medal in Javelin Throw in the World Masters Athletics Championship.

On return to Abohar, he was given a warm welcome by DSP (Rural) Vibhor Kumar Sharma, other cops and sports lovers. His wife Kiranpreet Kaur, mother Harcharan Kaur, maternal uncle wrestler Pritam Singh and other relatives were also present. They showered flowers and welcomed him with garlands and sweets.

Lakhwinder said that many youths were getting into the trough of drugs, they should give up drugs and participate in sports. We can also serve our country through sports, he added. Lakhwinder has trained many youths here in athletics. DSP Vibhor Sharma said that youth should take inspiration from Lakhwinder and avail of maximum facilities available at the school and college playgrounds. Indian participants have won 6 medals in the Finland competitions, a silver medal has been won by Lakhwinder.

World Masters Athletics Championships 2022 was the 24th edition in a series of World Masters Athletics Outdoor Championships that took place in Tampere, Finland. Male and female athletes aged 35 years and above were allowed to participate.
