YOUNG BASKETBALL PLAYER'S DEATH CONDOLED

Punjab Basketball Association has mourned the untimely death of its young promising player Sartaj Singh Virk who died suddenly due to brain hemorrhage in Canada. His body arrived here and was cremated at Sunet village.

He was only 19 years old. His father Paramveer Singh is a farmer.

While expressing deep grief at his demise Punjab Basketball Association secretary Teja Singh Dhaliwal said that Sartaj was a member of the Punjab team which won gold in Khelo India Games held in Pune in 2019.

He also participated in the 35th Youth National Basketball Championship held at Udaipur in the same year. Sr. Basketball Coach Rajinder Singh has also expressed condolences.

Meanwhile, the District Basketball Association treasurer Brij Goyal has also appealed to the Punjab Government to make all efforts that our sporting youth who excel in various sporting events are offered jobs in the State itself so that they are not allured to distant lands.
