The Special Staff of Metro Police has arrested an accused namely Manav r/o Kotla Mubarakpur, age 40 yrs, Delhi-110003, who was wanted in molestation case registered on 03.06.22 u/s 354/354(A)/354(D) IPC PS INA Metro, Delhi.
An incident of molestation was noticed through social media i.e. Twitter around midnight of 02.06.2022. The victim was contacted by SHO/ PS INA Metro and obtained her statement, in which she mentioned that she is from Gurugram and on 02.06.2022, while she was travelling from Huda City Centre to Jor Bagh Metro Station, faced an incident of sexual harassment.
During travel in the metro train, a man later arrested and identified as Manav is unmarried and currently unemployed.(SUBHEAD)
Presently the accused is residing in Gurugram, Haryana, enquired from her about the way to Delhi University. She de-boarded at MRS Jor Bagh where he also de-boarded and followed her on the platform on the pretext of verifying the address. While she was sitting on the bench at platform of MRS Jor Bagh that person again showed her a file, on the pretext of verifying the address.
When she was trying to see the file at that time he thrust his private part on her face. She ran away from the spot and at midnight on the day of incident she posted the entire episode on social media. On this a case dated 03.06.22 u/s 354/354(A)/354(D) IPC PS INA Metro, Delhi was registered
Considering the gravity of the incident number of teams of Metro Police under the supervision of the Jitedera Mani, DCP, Metro, were constituted. These teams scanned the electronic surveillance system in trains and metro stations and trace the movement of accused in order to identify, trace and nab him. Further the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) had been in regular touch with her to counsel her and extend all necessary help.
The Teams of Metro Police including Special staff continuously trying round the clock to locate and identify the perpetrator on the basis of CCTV Footage at all the metro stations of Yellow Line in and around entry/exit points. Finally, a team of Metro Police got succeeded to locate the perpetrator while he entered at Sikander pur through escalator at gate No. 01 in the morning.
The said information was shared with other team members, and further they conduct local enquiry at nearby place, shopkeepers, auto rickshaw local residents. Thereafter, CAF, CDR details of the accused and location was taken and the photo affix on the CAF of Manav was found matching with the accused. The location was also matching from the time of the CCTV Footage. On the basis of above leading information the house of Manav was raided and the same was found locked. The nearby residents told that he was not seen after 04th June.
Thereafter further efforts have been made and it has further been found that the accused had left the country on 04.06.2022 by Flight to Kathmandu, Nepal. Due to continuous efforts of the Metro Police, finally, the accused was apprehended from near of the Saket Court, New Delhi. The investigation of the case is on progressive way.
