ROUNDGLASS PUNJAB HOCKEY ACADEMY TEAM WINS BRONZE MEDAL AT JUNIOR MEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy finished with the bronze medal at Hockey India’s Junior Men Academy National Championship 2022 in Jamshedpur on Sunday. The team registered a victory against Army Boys Sports Company in the third-place play-off, where the match ended 2-2 after regulation time and was decided via penalty shootout.

RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy was drawn in Pool D of the competition and made it through to the quarterfinals after victories against Dhyan Chand Hockey Academy (18-0), Olympian Vivek Singh Hockey Academy (4-1) and Har Hockey Academy (10-0).

In the knockout phase, the team won 5-2 against SGPC Hockey Academy to enter the last four, where it went down fighting to Naval Tata Hockey Academy, Jamshedpur (1-3). RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy ended the tournament on a victorious note in the bronze medal match on Sunday – the Academy’s second medal in quick succession after finishing third at the recently-concluded Sub-Junior Women Championship as well.

Rajinder Singh, Assistant Technical Director, RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy, said, “We are proud to finish third among the best teams from all over India. We were fourth in the last edition of this tournament and now, this performance shows that we are progressing and moving in the right direction. The effort put in by the players, coaches and the staff has been huge.”

RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy forward Shivam Rana was named the Player of the Tournament. He said, “The competition was an amazing opportunity for us, and I am so happy that we won the bronze medal. My trophy is a result of the effort put in by the whole team. I thank my coaches, teammates and RoundGlass for giving us this opportunity and I hope to keep growing and improving as a player.”

RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy was represented by an 18-member squad, which is sponsored by RoundGlass Sports in line with its mission to inspire children to play hockey to enable their Wholistic Wellbeing and restore Punjab’s legacy in the sport.
