In a shocking incident that has sent waves of concern across the city, a youth identified as Naveen Arora, a resident of the City area, was gunned down by two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants on Friday evening. Naveen was the son of Baldev Raj Arora, a long-time associate of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

According to information, Naveen had closed his shop in the main bazaar and was on his way home near Dr Sadhu Chand Chowk when the attackers intercepted him near the Baba Noor Shah Wali Durgah. Witnesses said the assailants, riding a motorcycle, fired at him from point-blank range before fleeing the spot, leaving locals shocked and panicked.

He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Following the incident, senior police officials, including DSP (City) Sukhwinder Singh, reached the crime scene and reviewed the situation. The DSP said that teams were scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the attackers and assured that the culprits would be arrested at the earliest.

Senior RSS leader Ashwani Dhawan termed the killing extremely unfortunate and urged the police to initiate strict action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
