PAK-ISI BACKED TERROR MODULE BUSTED IN LUDHIANA; 10 HELD WITH HAND GRENADE

In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Ludhiana Commissionerate Police has busted a Pak-based ISI backed grenade attack module with the arrest of 10 key operatives of foreign-based handlers, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Thursday. 

Those arrested have been identified as Kuldeep Singh, Shekhar Singh and Ajay Singh alias Ajay, all residents of Sri Muktsar Sahib. While, Amrik Singh, Parminder alias Chiri, Vijay, Sukhjit Singh alias Sukh Brar, Sukhwinder Singh, Karanveer Singh alias Vicky and Sajan Kumar alias Sanju have been brought on production warrant from different jails for their role as couriers and facilitators. 

Police teams have also recovered one 86P Chinese Hand Grenade, one Black Kit, and a set of Gloves from the arrested accused persons. 

(MOREPIC2) DGP Gaurav Yadav said that Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were in contact with Pak-based handlers through three operatives based in Malaysia to coordinate the pickup and delivery of a hand grenade. The task was assigned by the handlers to carry out a grenade attack in a populated area to create unrest in the state, he said. 

The DGP said that further investigations are ongoing to establish forward and backward linkages in this case. 

Sharing operational details, Commissioner of Police (CP) Ludhiana Swapan Sharma said that acting on credible intelligence inputs, a first information report (FIR) was registered against suspects Kuldeep Singh, Shekhar Singh and Ajay Singh alias Ajay at Police Station Jodhewal. 

Given the sensitivity of the matter, special teams were constituted under the supervision of the DCP (Investigation) and DCP (City) to ensure swift and effective action, he said, while, adding that the three suspects were arrested by the police teams. 

He said that further investigation has identified the foreign-based masterminds Malaysia-based Ajay alias Ajay Malaysia, Jass Behbal and Pawandeep. These individuals are known to reside together abroad and were in contact with local facilitators Amrik Singh and Parminder @ Chiri, both of whom were previously involved in drug smuggling operations for them, he said. 

The CP said that during the investigation, Vijay, brother of Ajay (Malaysia), who was lodged in Ganganagar Jail in connection with a commercial quantity NDPS Act case, was also arrested on production warrant for his role as a facilitator in this case. The probe further uncovered the local network involving accused persons Sukhjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Karanveer Singh and Sajan alias Sanu in facilitating the delivery of the hand grenade in Punjab, he added. 

CP Swapan Sharma said that the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) has been invoked, and Red Corner Notices (RCNs) have been issued against the accused persons operating from abroad. More arrests and recoveries are likely in coming days, he added. 

In this regard, a case FIR No. 150 dated 27.10.2025 had been registered under sections 3, 4, 5 of the Explosives Act and Section 113 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Jodhewal.
