A commendable operation by team of Insp. Manmeet Malik, ISC Crime Branch led to arrest of a person namely Ashik Ali, who was involved in a brutal murder case of PS Bindapur and was absconding for 16 years. A Reward of Rs. 25000/- was declared on his arrest.
On 5 January 2009, a headless body was found in an iron box in the area of PS Bindapur and FIR No. 06/2009 Dated 05/01/2009 U/s 302/201 IPC was registered at PS Bindapur. During investigation, the dead body was identified as one Harish Chand @ Babloo. Investigation revealed that one Banarsi Lal, a relative of deceased had monetary disputes with him.
(SUBHEAD)Accused Banarasi Lal, along with associate Ashik Ali, jointly committed the murder and disposed of the body and head separately to hide the crime. Ashik Ali, who worked with the co-accused, assisted in the execution, concealment of evidence, and took the victim’s clothes. After the crime, he absconded from Delhi. Ashik Ali was declared a proclaimed offender in 2011, and remained absconding since then. A reward of Rs. 25000/- was declared on his arrest. Banarsi Lal was arrested, put on trial, and sentenced to life imprisonment in the case.
OPERATION: On 04.11.2025, SI Ritesh Kumar received a specific information about the hideouts of Ashik Ali. Hence, a team comprising SI Ritesh Kumar, SI Jai Kumar, SI Rajeev and ASI Krishan Pal, under supervision of Insp. Manmeet and overall guidance of Sh. Ramesh Chander, ACP ISC Crime, was constituted and dispatched to Surat, Gujrat.
On 05.11.2025, the team, utilizing both technical inputs and manual intelligence, apprehended Ashik Ali in Surat, Gujarat. The accused had been living under a pseudonym to evade identification and arrest.
Interrogation of accused: Mr. Aditya Gautam, Dy. Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, said, interrogation of accused has revealed that his close friend Banarasi Lal had a monetary dispute with the deceased Harish @ Bablu (son of brother-in-law of Banarsi Lal). Altercation took place between deceased and Banarsi Lal over money, and they killed and beheaded him.
Profile of accused: Accused Ashik Ali R/o Kushi Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, Age-55 Years was found living in Bhaiya Nagar, Surat Gujrat and was working as a tailor. After the incident, he kept changing his locations along with his wife and children. He had been living in Surat for about four years. Further legal proceedings are being carried out.
