Former Punjab Police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is now preparing to enter the investigation. On Tuesday, the ED will visit the CBI office in Chandigarh to obtain records related to DIG Bhullar and his middleman, Krishna Sharda. These records concern IAS and IPS officers accused of involvement in benami  property deals.

During the CBI’s preliminary investigation, the names of about 50 Punjab officers have surfaced. The agency has prepared a list of these officers, which will now be handed over to the ED. Once the ED obtains these records, the agency will summon these officers for questioning regarding their benami propertie

After arresting DIG Bhullar, the CBI took him into custody for five days. During interrogation, Bhullar revealed that several IAS and IPS officers from Punjab had invested in properties through Patiala-based property dealer Bhupinder Singh.

(SUBHEAD)The CBI identified 14 such officers — 10 IPS and 4 IAS. It was found that eight of these IPS officers are still in active service, while two are currently posted at the Punjab Police Academy.

CBI investigation reveals that  four IAS officers were part of an investment network linked to the Mandi Gobindgarh region. Following this, the agency raided the premises of property dealers in Patiala and Ludhiana and seized several key documents.

In the progress report submitted to the court, the CBI revealed that evidence of multiple bribery and posting-related deals was found in Krishnu Sharda’s mobile phone and laptop. He is accused of conspiring with certain officers to manipulate transfers, issue arms licenses, cancel FIRs, and interfere in police investigations.

ED  TO  OBTAIN FULL RECORD: On Tuesday, the CBI is expected to hand over all documents related to the benami property deals to the ED. After this, the ED may summon the officers whose names surfaced during the interrogation of Bhullar and Krishnu Sharda.

Krishni Sharda is the same middleman who was caught accepting a ₹5 lakh bribe from a scrap dealer — an incident that sent shockwaves through the entire Punjab administrative system.
