The fifth day of the ATAL (AICTE Training and Learning) Online 6-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) 2025–26 on “Smart Cities and Mobility: Technological Innovations for Sustainable Urban Transport” at Lovely Professional University (LPU) witnessed an engaging and thought-provoking session by Ar. Sanjay Goel, Ex-Director, Smart City Ludhiana, and Chief Architect, Designex Architects, Ludhiana.

Speaking on the theme “Mobility Challenges, Smart Mobility Frameworks and Global Trends”, Ar. Goel shared valuable insights on how mobility systems must evolve in response to rapid urbanization, climate concerns, and technological transformation. He emphasized that mobility today is not merely about physical connectivity but about enabling economies, reducing inequalities, and ensuring sustainable, people-centric cities.

Ar. Goel, a visionary practitioner and former Chairman of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Punjab Chapter, highlighted how integrated frameworks combining smart technology, sustainability, and human values can shape resilient and inclusive transport systems.

Prof. (Dr.) Nagendra Narayan, Coordinator of the ATAL FDP, expressed his gratitude for the impactful session, stating that “Ar. Sanjay Goel’s presentation has provided our participants with a global perspective, while also grounding the discussion in the realities of Indian cities. His vision of mobility as a transformative force truly resonates with the objectives of this FDP, inspiring us to think beyond efficiency towards inclusivity, sustainability, and human empowerment.”

The session drew active participation from faculty members, researchers, and urban planners across India and abroad, fostering meaningful dialogue on reimagining urban mobility for the future.

The FDP, organized under the aegis of AICTE-ATAL Academy, continues to showcase the expertise of distinguished resource persons in advancing the agenda of smart and sustainable urban development.
