The Army Training Command (ARTRAC) commenced its 35th Raising Day celebrations with a vibrant series of events, including a grand band display and a spirited ‘Run for Excellence’, held on September 27 and 28 in Shimla. The celebrations, designed to foster camaraderie and community participation, drew enthusiastic crowds and wide participation from troops, families, and the local population.
The iconic Ridge Maidan came alive on September 27 with a spectacular performance by the renowned Indian Army Symphony Band. The premier ensemble captivated the audience with an eclectic mix of military tunes and popular Bollywood numbers, showcasing not only musical brilliance but also strengthening bonds with the community. Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ARTRAC, felicitated the talented musicians for their inspiring performance.
(SUBHEAD)On Sunday . the much-anticipated ‘Run for Excellence’ was flagged off by Lt Gen Devendra Sharma from the Institute of Advanced Studies. Covering a challenging 3 km uphill stretch to the Ridge, the run saw enthusiastic participation from soldiers, families, and children—reflecting the spirit of unity, pride, and fitness that defines the ARTRAC fraternity. The Army Commander lauded the participants’ energy and underscored the significance of maintaining fitness in today’s digital era, reiterating ARTRAC’s commitment to the Fit India initiative. The run concluded with an engaging Zumba session led by Miss Varsha, adding a fun and refreshing finale to the event.
These activities form a prelude to ARTRAC’s Raising Day, celebrated annually on October 1. As one of the seven commands of the Indian Army, ARTRAC is entrusted with the responsibility of institutionalised training through 34 premier training establishments across the country.
