In the Sriganganagar Zila Parishad chairperson by-election. Congress candidate Dula Ram Indalia defeated BJP's Nirmala Devi by getting 26 out of 31 votes.

Congress District President Ankur Miglani, Lok Sabha MP Kuldeep Indora, MLAs Sohan Nayak, Dungar Ram Gedar, Rupinder Singh Ruby termed this victory as a big victory of the Constitution and Democracy.

Indalia said, “Development work in the Zila Parishad was stalled for the last 15 months. BJP-nominated Zila Parishad chief Kavita Regar did not have the majority, due to which no important decision was being taken.” There were a total of 31 directors in the Zila Parishad, out of which 26 were from Congress, 3 from BJP, and 2 from CPI(M). Despite this, the BJP tried every possible way to postpone the by-election of ZP chief for the last 15 months. The process was halted due to the stay order of Jodhpur High Court on June 10. Nomination papers were filed on that day, but the stay order came before the voting. The same was vacated last month.

After the election of Congress MP Kuldeep Indora in the Lok Sabha elections last year, he resigned from the post of ZP chief. But, BJP government nominated director Kavita Regar as ZP chief despite having only 3 directors while Congress had a clear majority in the Zila Parishad.
