HARYANA SPORTS MINISTER MEETS UNION SPORTS MINISTER

Haryana Minister of State for Sports, Sh. Gaurav Gautam, on Friday visited New Delhi and held a meeting with Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on developing Haryana as a global sports hub, strengthening the state’s sports infrastructure, and making its youth competitive at the international level. During the meeting, Sh. Gaurav Gautam emphasized that through well-planned efforts and strong policy frameworks, Haryana can be firmly established as a prominent center on the global sports map.

Focusing on ‘Mission Olympic 2036’, Sh. Gaurav Gautam highlighted long-term strategies aimed at enhancing the performance of athletes. Deliberations were also held on the effective implementation of flagship initiatives such as Khelo India, Fit India, and Youth Games, ensuring their outreach to every village and youth across the state. He stated that the government’s objective is to provide equal opportunities to sports talent in both rural and urban areas, enabling them to excel at national and international platforms.

Extensive discussions on promoting youth participation in sports across Haryana were also discussed during the meeting. Besides this, key issues such as strengthening coaching infrastructure, expanding the number of sports nurseries and academies, and encouraging young talent from an early stage were also discussed during the meeting. It was also decided that sports competitions at school and college levels will be further streamlined and strengthened to ensure maximum participation and to help youth connect with sports, thereby enhancing Haryana’s identity at national and global levels.

Sh. Guarav Gautam apprised the Union Minister that Haryana has already emerged as a leading state in the field of sports in India, with its athletes making significant contributions in the Olympics and other international competitions.
